
Chamber Music Marthon Kicks Off July 28

Santa Barbara, CA- The Music Academy of the West's annual chamber music marathon will take place from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday, July 28, in Abravanel Hall. The event will feature Academy young artists performing a varied repertoire in ensembles of all sizes and configurations.
"This event is truly a feast for chamber music aficionados. Each year our talented young artists explore the form's startling range and breadth. It invariably makes for a satisfying day of music," said Richard Feit, vice president for artistic programs and operations at the Music Academy.
Abravanel Hall is on the Music Academy campus, located at 1070 Fairway Road in Santa Barbara. Tickets will cost $15.
The Music Academy of the West is celebrating its 60th anniversary with an unprecedented 2007 season program featuring numerous classical music luminaries. Highlights include an ambitious production of La Bohème, performances by violinist Gilles Apap and the Takács Quartet, and conducting turns by Jeffrey Tate and Alexander Lazarev.

Founded in 1947, the Music Academy of the West is among the nation's preeminent summer schools and festivals for gifted young classical musicians.
