Santa Barbara, CA-Is your attic teeming with unwanted or unused treasures long removed from workaday cares? Or perhaps you have one or two items of some value that you'd gladly part with, particularly in support of a worthy local cause. In either case, the organizers of May Madness, a massive yard and estate sale benefiting the Music Academy of the West, want to hear from you.

Donations for this year's May Madness event will be accepted Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 3 pm, at the Music Academy of the West campus, located at 1070 Fairway Road in Santa Barbara. The donation deadline is April 27. In the past, donated items have included cameras, electronics, furniture, rugs, quilts, watches, toys, silver, crystal, clothing, sheet music, art, china, cutlery, hard-cover books, glassware, mirrors, antiques, sporting goods, gardening tools and luggage.

Items must be clean and in good condition. Large kitchen appliances and architectural salvage materials (windows, doors, stoves, etc.) will not be accepted. Donations can be dropped off at the hallway entrance to the Wood I building at the Music Academy (simply follow the signs upon entering the campus). Clothing donations should be directed to The Rack, the Academy's year-round on-campus clothing resale shop. To arrange the pick-up of a donation item, call 695-7912.

This year's May Madness event will take place from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday, May 5, at the Music Academy of the West. Now in its 32nd year, May Madness is organized by the Women's Auxiliary of the Music Academy, a volunteer organization that supports the Academy year-round.
