Ways to Volunteer

Women’s Auxiliary

The Women’s Auxiliary is a volunteer organization that supports the Music Academy year-round. During the Summer School and Festival, members usher for various masterclasses and serve as hosts for performance and lecture events. The Auxiliary also spearheads May Madness and assists with operations at The Rack and The Treasure House. Proceeds from sales at these on-campus shops help underwrite Music Academy programs. For additional information, contact Women's Auxiliary Chair Cevin Cathell at cevincathell@gmail.com. Read more »

The Compeer Program

Now in its 19th season, the Compeer Program has created enduring friendships, deepened the community’s appreciation for music, and fostered moral support support for Academy Fellows. Compeers are patrons who volunteer their time for one-on-one friendships with Academy Fellows throughout the summer season. Participation in the Compeer Program is a benefit available to donors at the $2,500 Council of Contributors giving level. For additional information, contact Dean Tiffany DeVries at tdevries@musicacademy.org. Read more »

Ushers

The Music Academy needs ushers, ticket takers, and general volunteers for its annual Summer Festival. No experience required. In return for your service you will enjoy many hours of glorious music. For additional information, contact Community Access Manager Rayna Davis at rdavis@musicacademy.org.

Opera Production

Supernumeraries, or "Supers," are actors who volunteer to fill non-speaking roles in an opera. In addition, the Music Academy often needs individuals who enjoy helping out backstage and in the lobby. People who are interested in the lighting design process can help by standing in for singers on the stage while we create lighting "looks." These folks are called light walkers. We are also constantly seeking people for costumes, wig/make-up crew, props, and stage management. For additional information, contact Vice President Patrick Posey at pposey@musicacademy.org.
