JoAnn Turovsky serves as principal harp with the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Los Angeles Master Chorale Orchestra, and the Long Beach and Pasadena symphonies, and is a member of the contemporary music ensemble XTET. She also is a professor of harp at the USC Thornton School of Music, the Colburn Conservatory, and the Colburn School of Performing Arts.
Ms. Turovsky has received numerous honors for both her solo and chamber repertoire, including first prize in the American Harp Society National Competition, Young Professional Division; first prize in the Coleman Competition for Chamber Music; and many local awards from Mu Phi Epsilon, Sigma Alpha Iota, the Etude Music Club, and the Young Musicians Foundation. She is chair of the American Harp Society National Competition.
Ms. Turovsky appears frequently as a soloist throughout California and is active in the motion picture industry. John Williams wrote a solo piece for her that was featured in the Angela's Ashes soundtrack, and she has performed on soundtracks for Indiana Jones 4, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Chronicles of Narnia, Cars, and The Kite Runner, among others.
