Horn applicants must 1. submit an online application and 2. perform a live audition OR submit 2 copies of a video DVD audition recording. Equal enrollment consideration is granted to both audition methods. Live auditions are filmed for later review by the studio faculty.
Applying by the deadline does not guarantee a live audition; live auditions are first come, first served. Visit this webpage prior to submitting an application to verify if a particular city's audition schedule is already full.
The Music Academy accepts six horn players each summer.
The Application
The online application requires three components: the application data, a one-page resume, and a short statement (100 words) explaining why you wish to attend the Music Academy.
An application fee must be paid by credit card or electronic check at the time of submitting the online application. Application fees are NON-refundable.

Video DVD Audition Recordings: Applicants who do not attend a live audition must submit 2 copies of a continuous, unedited DVD (do not stop or pause filming between excerpts). Sound quality must be excellent. Avoid filming in a room that is excessively resonant, and do not add "reverb" to your DVD. Please film excerpts in the order above and do not include any other excerpts or pieces. DVDs must be playable on a standard DVD player. Write your full name and "horn" on the DVDs and cases (please do not adhere labels to the discs).
