Kate Oberjat, a native of San Diego, California, has served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Music Academy of the West since December 2015. However, Ms. Oberjat's first encounter with the Academy was as an infant, when both of her parents attended the Music Academy as Voice Program fellows.
Ms. Oberjat joined the Music Academy from the New York Philharmonic, where she was the Single Ticket Marketing Manager. A classically-trained singer, Ms. Oberjat studied voice at Northwestern University in addition to earning a music business degree, and went on to sing professionally with companies including Nashville Opera, LA Opera, Center for Contemporary Opera, Chelsea Opera, Dicapo Opera, and Lyric Opera San Diego.
Recent acheivements include the implementation of a digital advertising campaign, a streamlined email campaign, and launching a new website for the Music Academy this season.
