Kelly has been with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra since 2002, first as Orchestra Personnel Manager and currently as the Director of Orchestra Personnel, a position she has held since 2013. As a leading member of the SPCO’s artistic operations team, she oversees personnel and production details for the SPCO’s 40-week season. The SPCO, (www.thespco.org) hailed by the New York Times in 2015, “as probably the finest ensemble of its kind in America”, is the only full-time chamber orchestra in the U.S. Prior to her post at the SPCO, she served as the San Francisco Symphony’s Education Associate/Youth Orchestra Manager, overseeing the Symphony’s renowned education programs and co-managing the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra (SFSYO).
A native of Los Angeles, her affinity for classical music began young where she studied violin and played in her school orchestra while also a serious student of classical dance on a Ford Foundation scholarship. Dance training took her to summer sessions at the School of American Ballet in New York, along with modern dance study at Juilliard. She performed with several dance companies in the U.S. and Europe, along with dance notation studies at the Benesh Institute in London. After her retirement as a dancer, she worked on Wall Street as a corporate travel agent for Morgan Bank and later at the San Francisco office of Goldman Sachs.
Kelly received her B.A. in Humanities/H.R. Management, summa cum laude, from Dominican University of California in San Rafael and HR certification courses from the University of Minnesota. She loves travelling, film noir and the healing arts. Kelly is thrilled to be back this summer for her fourth summer as the Merit Program Coordinator.
