the opera event of the summer
Donizetti's comic opera The Elixir of Love
A charming romantic comedy in the Italian bel canto tradition. Young Nemorino is tricked by a greedy salesman into purchasing bottles of wine that he believes are love potions. Will his adored Adina ultimately admit she, too, is in love?
Full of appealing melodies and plaintive arias, such as the famous “Una furtiva lagrima” [“The furtive tear.”] Sung in Italian with English supertitles.
