ALICIA VENABLES 23, born in Victoria, B.C., Canada, is a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, where she studies with Andres Cardenes. In 2016, Ms. Venables auditioned and won a position in the University’s Honors String Quartet, and performed with the ensemble in Doha, Qatar as a cultural ambassador. Ms. Venables is Concertmaster of the Carnegie Mellon University Philharmonic and in 2016 was Guest Concertmaster of both Opera Project Columbus and Johnstown Symphony Orchestra. Winner of the 2012 Chamber Class at the Canadian National Music Festival, Ms. Venables has performed as soloist with the Vancouver Symphony and Calgary Philharmonic Orchestras. In 2015, Ms. Venables participated in both the New York String Orchestra Seminar and Young Artists Program under the direction of Pinchas Zukerman and the Banff Masterclass Program.
