BRIAN WENDEL 22, born in Natick, Massachusetts, joined the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as Principal Trombone in 2017. Winner of the International Trombone Association Competition in both 2014 and 2016, Mr. Wendel has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic Brass Ensemble. Mr. Wendel has spent summers as a fellow at the Pacific Music Festival, American Institute of Musical Studies, the National Orchestral Institute, the Alessi Seminar, and was a member of National Youth Orchestra of the United States in 2013. Brian Wendel’s other endeavors range between chamber music, piano, jazz, and composing and performing his own music. Brian Wendel graduated from The Juilliard School in 2017 where he was a student of Joseph Alessi. This is his first summer at Music Academy of the West.
