CAROLYN SEMES 20, born in Broomall, Pennsylvania, is a second year student at The Juilliard School studying with Laurie Smukler. Previously, Ms. Semes was a student in The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division, serving as Concertmaster of the Pre-College Orchestra, and was a recipient of a Snitzer Advanced Study Scholarship at The Settlement Music School in Philadelphia. Carolyn Semes has performed as soloist with The Newark Symphony, Ambler Symphony, Delaware County Symphony, Old York Road Symphony, The Temple University Orchestra, and The Macau Youth Orchestra as part of their 10th Anniversary Celebration. Ms. Semes was a guest soloist with The Shanghai Philharmonic, appearing live and on The Weekly Radio Broadcast. Ms. Semes has appeared on NPR’s From the Top Program in Boston’s Jordan Hall, in Hong Kong on RTHK’s The Children’s Hour, and in Philadelphia on WRTI and WHYY.
