CHERRY CHOI TUNG YEUNG 20, born in Hong Kong, is an undergraduate student at The Juilliard School, where she studies with Ida Kavafian. Ms. Yeung is a recipient of the C.V. Starr Scholarship, the Juilliard Scholarship Fund, and the 2016 Jessica Hung Scholarship given by the Lin Yao Ji Music Foundation. Ms. Yeung was the winner of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Concerto Competition in both 2014 and 2015, second prize winner of the 2013 Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition, and first prize winner of the Hong Kong Youth String Competition. Ms. Yeung was Assistant Concertmaster and Principal Second violin of The Juilliard Orchestra, Assistant Concertmaster of the HKAPA Academy Symphony Orchestra, and Concertmaster of the HKAPA Junior Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Yeung has appeared and performed at New York String Orchestra Seminar (2013, 2016), Hotchkiss Summer Portals(2012, 2013), Heartland Chamber Music Festival (2013, 2014), Kent Blossom Music Festival (2014), and Meadowmount School of Music (2015, 2016). As soloist, she has performed at Hong Kong City Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Concert Hall, HKAPA Recital Hall, and Shanghai Concert Hall. Ms. Yeung has performed with artists including Steven Tenenbom, Ida Kavafian, and Miami String Quartet. Furthermore, Ms. Yeung has performed for distinguished artists including Joseph Silverstein, Vadim Repin, Midori Goto, Jaime Laredo, Cho Liang Lin, Sylvia Rosenberg, Nicola Benedetti, Ida Kavafian, Pamela Frank, Robert Chen, and Wei He. This is her first summer at the Music Academy of the West.
