DAVID BENDER 20, from Nashville, Tennessee, is a bachelor’s degree student of Joel Krosnick at The Juilliard School. Mr. Bender began his studies at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music. At Blair, Mr. Bender studied with Anne Hall Williams, Kirsten Cassel, and Dr. Felix Wang. This past summer, he was selected to be a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States, and performed as principal cellist under Valery Gergiev and Christoph Eschenbach, at Carnegie Hall and throughout Europe. As a chamber musician, Mr. Bender has also worked with renowned professional string quartets including the American, Arianna, Jupiter, and Penderecki String Quartets. David Bender currently plays on a contemporary cello made by Peter Goodfellow, a loan generously made possible by the Virtu Foundation.
