EMMA RUTH RITTER 24, born in Northwest Indiana, earned her master's degree at Eastman School of Music, studying with Professor Jan Opalach. At Eastman, Miss Ritter has been seen in productions of Turn of the Screw (Mrs. Grose), Le nozze di Figaro (Marcellina), Suor Angelica (La Suor Zelatrice), A Hand of Bridge (Sally), and was the Honorable Mention Award Winner in the 2016 Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition.   This past spring at Eastman, Miss Ritter delved into the role of Madame de la Haltière in Massenet's Cendrillon. Previously, she was seen in Valparaiso University Theatre productions of Dido and Aeneas (Dido), Sweeney Todd (Mrs. Lovett), and Hansel and Gretel (Hansel). At Valpo, Miss Ritter won the concerto competition and performed Strauss' Vier letzte Lieder with the Valparaiso University Orchestra. Emma Ruth Ritter graduated Cum Laude from Valparaiso University with a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance in May 2015. Mss Ritter graduated from Eastman with master’s degrees in vocal performance and literature this past May. This is her first summer at the Music Academy of the West.
