GABE YOUNG 21, born in Ashland, Oregon, has been performing professionally for over half of his life. A bachelor’s degree student of Linda Strommen at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, Mr. Young holds the John H. Reese Scholarship within the Wells Scholars Program. Recent orchestral appearances include the Louisville Orchestra, Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, and Britt Festival Orchestra. Mr. Young has been featured in solo performances with the Rogue Valley Symphony, Indiana University Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, Second Street Baroque Orchestra, and Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon. In 2016, Mr. Young was named the winner of the Jacobs Woodwind Concerto Competition, and received second prize at the International Double Reed Society’s Young Artist Competition. This is his first summer at the Music Academy of the West.
