GRANT HOUSTON 18, born in Kansas City, Missouri, is an undergraduate student at New England Conservatory. Mr. Houston studies with Ayano Ninomiya, an active soloist and former violinist of the Ying Quartet. Grant Houston has enjoyed inspiring musical experiences across the world, attending and performing at the Schlern International Music Festival, Heartland Chamber Music Festival, Interlochen Violin Institute, and ARIA International Summer Academy. Mr. Houston was overall winner at the 2015 Buttram Competition, a winner of the Tulsa Youth Symphony's Concerto Competition in 2012, and a finalist at Interlochen Violin Institute Concerto Competition. As a soloist, Mr. Houston has performed for artists such as Almita and Roland Vamos, Rachel Barton Pine, and Stefan Jackiw. As a chamber musician, Mr. Houston has worked with members of the Borromeo, Prazak, Miami, St. Lawrence, and San Francisco string quartets. Grant Houston especially enjoys engaging with communities through music, whether playing for a class of middle-school students or giving a recital at a senior living home.
