MATTHEW J. MITCHENER 24, a Memphis, Tennessee native, is an avid freelance orchestral and chamber musician based in New York City who has been praised for his musicianship in the USA and Europe. Mr. Mitchener has been heard in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Boston’s Symphony Hall, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Mr. Mitchener is currently a substitute section/principal percussionist with Billings Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with MET Opera Orchestra, Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, Boston Civic Symphony, New England Philharmonic, and Brookline Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Mitchener most recently received his master’s degree in Orchestral Performance at the Manhattan School of Music. Previously, Mr. Mitchener graduated Cum Laude from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in Percussion Performance and a minor in Arts Leadership. Additionally, Mr. Mitchener studied for a term at the Royal College of Music in London.
