STEVEN EKERT 19, born in Massapequa, New York, is a first-year student in the dual degree program between Harvard College and the New England Conservatory, as a student of Richard Ranti. Mr. Ekert previously studied with Marc Goldberg at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division. A substitute with the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Ekert has been principal bassoon of the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, New York Youth Symphony, and Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artists Orchestra. Highly dedicated to chamber music, Mr. Ekert was a winner of the 2017 Parker Quartet Guest Artist Award and subsequently performed with the Parker Quartet as part of the Blodgett Chamber Music Series at Harvard. With the Nonamé Quintet, Mr. Ekert placed first in the 2016 M-Prize International Chamber Arts Competition in the Junior Winds Division.
