XINGYUAN WENG 21, born in Shanghai, China, is earning his bachelor’s degree at New England Conservatory on scholarship, where he studies with Donald Palma. Xingyuan Weng specializes in orchestral, chamber music, and solo playing. Before studying in US, Mr. Weng had won three first prizes for solo bass playing and one second prize for duo bass in China national competitions. Mr. Weng also played in three recitals in Shanghai from 2013 to 2014. In school, Xingyuan Weng served as principle and section bass for the symphony, philharmonic, and lab orchestras. This spring he performed the Schubert piano quintet "Trout.” Xingyuan Weng is a substitute musician for the Shanghai Philharmonic, Boston Philharmonic, Atlantic Symphony, and New Hampshire Symphony Orchestras. Mr. Weng also performed with the Budapest Festival Orchestra in Boston Symphony Hall. This is his first summer at the Music Academy of the West.
