YANGZI WANG 26, born in Xinjiang, China, is currently pursuing her second master’s degree with Karen Dreyfus at Manhattan School of Music under a full scholarship. Yangzi Wang started learning violin at age of three and entered the Central Conservatory of Music in 2006. Ms. Wang switched to viola at age of 15 with Shaowu Wang and was awarded a full scholarship to study viola in the undergraduate program at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore with Manchin Zhang. Yangzi Wang earned her master’s degree with Patinka Kopec at Manhattan School of Music on full scholarship. Yangzi Wang was the quarterfinalist of the Primrose International Viola Competition in 2014. Ms. Wang attended several festivals on full scholarship such as the Young Artists Program in Canada, Ozawa Chamber Music Festival in Japen, and Heifetz International Music Institute in the United States. During her studies at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, Ms. Wang was chosen to play as a guest musician with both the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra for 3 years. In 2016, Ms. Wang was invited by Singapore Symphony Orchestra to join them on a European tour. Yangzi Wang has worked with many international acclaimed musicians such as Pinchas Zukerman, Nobuko Imia, Barbara Westphal, Matthias Buchholz, Martha Strongin Katz, Karen Dreyfus, Heidi Castleman, Lawrence Dutton, Robert Vernon, David Takeno, Yoshiko Kawamoto, Mark Steinberg, and the Shanghai String Quartet.
