COMMUNITY ACCESS TICKETING FAQS - JUN 10, 2017

 

A designated number of $10 Community Access tickets are available for all Music Academy Summer Festival events on a first-come, first-served basis.



Tickets may be purchased online or in person only.
 

Due to the high volume of Ticket Office traffic that day, orders will not be taken by phone.

 

TO ORDER IN PERSON

The Carsey Ticket Office, located on the Music Academy Campus at 1070 Fairway Road, will open at 10 AM on Sat, June 10.

 

TO ORDER ONLINE

TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE STARTING AT 10 AM ON SAT, JUNE 10.

CONCERT INFORMATION

gates open to La Playa Stadium at 6 pm on Mon, July 31. The program will begin at 7:30 pm with a performance of Three Latin American Dances by Gabriela Lena Frank by the Academy Festival Orchestra conducted by Joshua Gerson. The New York Philharmonic, under the direction of Alan Gilbert, will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, featuring Music Academy alumnae soprano Susanna Phillips (‘02,’03) and mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke ('02), joined by tenor Joe Kaiser, bass Morris Robinson, and the Los Angeles Master Chorale in the iconic “Ode to Joy,” closing with a stunning fireworks display over the ocean. There will be no intermission.

TICKET PRICING

General admission tickets are $10 each. There are no fees for tickets. Tickets ordered at musicacademy.org may be self-printed or displayed on your mobile device at the entrance to the venue.

FREE ADMISSION TICKETS

Young people and children ages 7 and above are WELCOME at this concert! Young people ages 7-17 receive a FREE ticket when accompanied by a ticketed adult. These free tickets must be ordered in advance. This event is not recommended for children under 7 years of age. Everyone in attendance must have a ticket.

SEATING

All $10 tickets, SBCC tickets, and 7-17s Free tickets are general admission.

General admission seating is in the La Playa Stadium bleachers, first-come, first-served, beginning at 6 pm.

STADIUM ACCESS

The most convenient general admission access is from the top of La Playa Stadium across from the Campus Book Store. Click here for a map, or visit www.sbcc.edu/map - Main Campus. More limited access is available at the field level of the Stadium.

Pedestrians should enter via the East Campus Entrance, or on Loma Alta Drive from Cliff Drive, or Shoreline Drive.

BLEACHER SEATS

Most of the stadium seats are bleachers without backs. You are welcome to bring seat cushions or stadium seats to place on the bleachers.

PARKING

·         11 Waterfront lots, including Leadbetter Beach

·         14 Downtown Public Parking Lots

·         SBCC Campus Pershing Lot and West Campus Lots open to public

Note: There is no access to public parking from Loma Alta Drive. Do not enter Loma Alta Drive to find public parking.

FREE SANTA BARBARA TROLLEYS

Free Santa Barbara Trolleys will be running along Shoreline Drive, Cabrillo, and State Street from 6-7:30 pm and 9-10:30 pm. Look for any Downtown-Waterfront Shuttle stop location marked by signs to board or exit the Trolley. The drop-off for La Playa Stadium is at Harbor Way and Shoreline Drive.

HANDICAP SEATING AND PARKING

There are two areas of handicap seating available. On the field level of the Stadium, or at the top of the Stadium. Handicapped passengers arriving by car may be dropped off on Loma Alta Drive at Lot 2C to access the field-level handicap entrance.

Handicap parking is available in Lot 1B and 2C with a disabled parking placard or license plate from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). A state-issued placard or license plate is necessary to access handicap parking.

Large buses and shuttle buses will drop off handicapped passengers at Lot 2C at field level. Smaller buses and shuttle buses also have the option to drop-off at Lot 1B at the entrance at the top of the stadium via the East Campus entrance from Cliff Drive. Bus parking is not available. Buses may return for pick up after 9:30 pm.

Companions dropping off passengers should proceed immediately to public parking.

PREMIERE RESERVED TICKETS

Limited $100 Premiere Reserved tickets on the field of the stadium, including Premiere Reserved parking adjacent to La Playa Stadium, are available at musicacademy.org.

PREMIERE RESERVED SEATING ACCESS

The Premiere Reserved entrance to La Playa Stadium is accessed from parking lots 2C and 3 on the field level. Premiere Reserved tickets are assigned seats (folding chairs with backs) on the field of the stadium in front of the stage. Food and Beverages are not allowed on the stadium field during the concert. Complimentary concessions and non-alcoholic beverages will be available at the Premiere Reserved Hospitality Tent from 6 pm-7:15 pm prior to the concert inside the Stadium gates. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on the SBCC campus.

PREMIERE RESERVED PARKING

Premiere Reserved parking is accessed from Loma Alta Drive via Cliff Drive or Shoreline Drive in Lots 2C, and 3. Your Premiere Reserved Parking Passes are necessary for entrance – please have your Parking Pass ready to display. Parking Passes will arrive via US Mail prior to the concert date. You may exit the parking lots north on Loma Alta drive at all times. Exiting south toward Shoreline Drive will only be available after the fireworks conclude at 9:30 pm.

RIDESHARING DROP-OFF

The ridesharing drop-off and pick-up station will be located in the 1A East Campus Lot, where the map indicates “Drop-Off” in front of the Administration Building. Visit www.sbcc.edu/map - Main Campus.

BICYCLES

Biking is encouraged, and a convenient way to get to the Stadium. Hundreds of bike racks are available for secure bike parking.

ATTIRE

Please dress comfortably, and bring a jacket or warm layers for evening temperatures and possibly breezes or wind. Shoes should be appropriate for climbing stairs.

AMPLIFIED SOUND

There is a professional, amplified sound system provided by Meyer Sound. You will be able to hear well from any seat.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES

Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed into the bleacher area of the stadium. Bags will be checked at stadium entrances.

Concessions will be available prior to the concert at the top of La Playa Stadium.

ADDITIONAL STADIUM POLICIES

Smoking and illegal substances are strictly prohibited. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on the SBCC Campus and on all beaches and Waterfront Parking Lots.

Cellular phones are permitted, but must be silenced during the concert.

All pets are prohibited, unless they are service animals.

California state law prohibits the possession or control of any firearm (including but not limited to any facsimile firearm), deadly weapon, explosive device, fireworks, nunchakus, metal knuckles, shuriken, billy club, sap, or any other deadly weapon or prohibited knife and/or knives while on the property of the Santa Barbara City College campus, except as required in the lawful course of business or as authorized by the Director of Security.

EXITING BY CAR DURING THE CONCERT

Shoreline Drive will be closed from Loma Alta Drive to Castillo Street from 7:15-9:30 pm. Access by car out of the Leadbetter East and West Lots will only be possible before 7:15 pm and after 9:30, except in a case of emergency. Should you need to exit the area by car between 7:15-9:30 pm, please go north from the stadium toward Cliff Drive.

FIREWORKS

Fireworks are scheduled at 9:15, deployed from a barge in the Pacific Ocean, viewable from the waterfront and La Playa Stadium.

Hahn Hall Ticket Office opens one hour before each Hahn Hall event.

The Box Offices at the Granada and Lobero Theatres will be open one hour prior to events.

Community Access Tickets

A designated number of $10 Community Access tickets are made available for all Music Academy Summer Festival events on a first-come, first-served basis. Community Access Tickets went on sale Sat, Jun 10 in person and online. Learn how to order HERE

 

7-17s FREE Tickets

Our  7-17s FREE program encourages families to bring young people, fostering lifelong appreciation of the performing arts. Through this initiative, young people ages 7 to 17 accompanied by ticketed adults will be admitted free of charge to all Music Academy Summer Festival and The Met: Live in HD events.

This program is designed to help remove obstacles for parents to attend concerts, encouraging adults to bring young people. This program is intended for families and friends. 

 

Online Purchases

Academy online ticket sales can be purchased at any time prior to the event. The tickets can be printed at home or at the Ticket Office upon arrival.

 

What if I can't use my tickets?

If you are unable to attend a performance, we encourage you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Music Academy by returning your tickets at least 24 hours before the event. We will provide written confirmation of your gift. Please contact the return hotline at 805-565-5400. No refunds or exchanges for individual tickets. Series tickets may be exchanged in person, or by phone, more than 24 hours prior to the event.

 

Do you offer discounts?

Groups of 10 or more are invited to take advantage of special rates for many events. Please phone 805-969-8787.

 

What about patrons in wheelchairs?

We request that you notify the ticket office if you or any member of your party will attend a ticketed Hahn Hall event in a wheelchair.

 

What about patrons who are hearing impaired?

Music Academy personnel will be happy to provide you with an assistive listening device or help you access our hearing loop system for Hahn Hall performances. Please inquire at the Ticket Office.

 

Can I bring a pet or food?

Neither is permitted in Music Academy performance venues.

 

Do I pay to park at the Music Academy?

Parking on the Academy campus is always free. Reserved spaces are available as a benefit for Leadership Circle donors. For more information about donor benefits, please call 805-695-7918. Santa Barbara venues have convenient public parking lots available nearby.

TICKETING FAQS

INDIVIDUAL TICKETS

Individual tickets, $28 each, are available for purchase online, over the phone, or in person at the Carsey Ticket Office. Tickets will also be sold starting one hour prior to each event at the Hahn Hall Ticket Office.

STUDENT TICKETS

Student discounted tickets, $20 each, can be purchased online or the day of the event. Please present a valid student ID at the Hahn Hall Ticket Office. 

$10 COMMUNITY ACCESS & 7-17S FREE TICKETS

A limited number of $10 tickets and unlimited free-admission for youth ages 7-17 (when accompanied by a ticketed adult) are available, thanks to a generous sponsorship from the Santa Barbara Foundation. These tickets can be purchased the day of the event only at the Hahn Hall Ticket Office. first-come, first-served. not available online

WHAT IF I CAN'T USE MY TICKET?

Subscribers of the full Met: Live in HD series are able to exchange their tickets for another date in the series. This is a subscriber benefit only.

If you are not a subscriber and are unable to attend a screening, we encourage you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Music Academy by returning your tickets at least 24 hours before the event. We will provide written confirmation of your gift. Please contact the return hotline at 805-565-5400. No refunds or exchanges.
